Softball Recap: Gardendale Takes a Loss

Gardendale extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 21-17 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies. The Rockets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Huskies earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

As for Hewitt-Trussville, they have been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-13-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

For Hewitt-Trussville's part, the team relied heavily on Zaylen Tucker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and one double. That's the most hits Tucker has posted since back in April of 2024. Darcy Hill was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Gardendale has already played their next game, a 9-9 tie against Hueytown on the 22nd. As for Hewitt-Trussville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 18-3 loss against Curry on the 21st.
