Basketball Recap: Chapel Hill Red Devils vs. Winnsboro Raiders
The Chapel Hill Red Devils had already won 25 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.4 points), and they went ahead and made it 26 on Friday. They claimed a resounding 64-33 win over Winnsboro at home. Chapel Hill has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 contests by 20 points or more this season.
Braden Buchanan was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaydyn Haley, who scored seven points along with nine assists and seven rebounds.
Chapel Hill pushed their record up to 29-1 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.5 points per game. As for Winnsboro, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.
Chapel Hill will head out on the road to challenge the Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mineola will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 708th, while the Red Devils are ranked 142nd). As for Winnsboro, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.
