Softball Recap: Watervliet Takes a Loss

If Watervliet was feeling good fresh off their 19-5 takedown of Catskill last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cannoneers came up short against the Fonda-Fultonville Valley Hawks on Tuesday, falling 19-7.

Madalyn Wells was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaden Sierra, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Watervliet has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Fonda-Fultonville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Coming up, Watervliet will challenge Germantown at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cannoneers are facing the Clippers at the right time seeing as the Clippers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Fonda-Fultonville, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Duanesburg at 4:30 p.m. The Valley Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
