Softball Game Preview: Loris Lions vs. St. James Sharks

The Loris Lions are taking a road trip to take on the St. James Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

On Tuesday, Loris came up short against Ironton and fell 9-4.

Caitie Black was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Jaci Griffin was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Meanwhile, St. James waltzed into their contest last Wednesday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Braves. The result was nothing new for the Sharks, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

St. James pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Loris, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9-1.

Loris was able to grind out a solid victory over St. James when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 6-1. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sharks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
