            River Ridge/Scales Mound can  bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game  on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  team sidled past the Polo Marcos  5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Wildcats have posted  since May 13, 2024.

 Sam Rife was a  major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out nine batters over  seven innings while giving up  four earned runs off   six  hits. Those  nine  strikeouts gave  him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  run.
 In other batting news,  Kaden Duerr was  excellent,  going 2-for-3 with two  runs, two  RBI,  and one  double. That's the most  runs  he has posted since back in March.  Aidan Soppe also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  double of the season.
 River Ridge/Scales Mound  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Polo struck out nine times.
River Ridge/Scales Mound's record is now 8-14. As for Polo,  they are  on  a  four-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 4-17.
 Looking ahead, River Ridge/Scales Mound is taking a road trip to  face off against Oregon  at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. As for Polo, they will welcome South Beloit  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Sobos will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  victory, something the Marcos surely won't give up without a fight.
