Preview: Herriman Mustangs vs. Riverton Silverwolves

Two dominant guards in Ike Palmer and Ben Barrus are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Herriman Mustangs will be playing at home against the Riverton Silverwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Herriman is ranked tenth, while Riverton is ranked 14th).

Herriman unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Corner Canyon. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Herriman has scored all season.

Even though Riverton has not done well against Bingham recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Riverton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 68-65 win over Bingham. The win was just what Riverton needed coming off of a 69-47 defeat in their prior game.

It was another big night for Barrus, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Zach Edwards, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Herriman's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-5. As for Riverton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which lines up perfectly with their 15-5 record this season.

Herriman skirted past Riverton 96-93 in their previous matchup back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Barrus, who scored 31 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Herriman still be able to contain Barrus? There's only one way to find out.
