Preview: Dixie Flyers vs. Orem Tigers
The Dixie Flyers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Orem Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Dixie has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 385 points over their last five contests.
Even though Crimson Cliffs scored an imposing 62 points on Saturday, Dixie still came out on top. Dixie enjoyed a cozy 77-62 win over Crimson Cliffs. Given Dixie's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Crimson Cliffs is ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dixie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyle Lemke, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Lemke's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Roberts, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 assists.
Meanwhile, Orem's game on Saturday was all tied up 34-34 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They secured a 86-81 W over Duncanville. The victory was nothing new for Orem as they're now sitting on three straight.
Asher Young continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Young is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Chance Dastrup was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 17 assists.
Their wins bumped Dixie to 5-0 and Crimson Cliffs to 3-3.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's contest: Dixie have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5 threes per game. It's a different story for Orem, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 per game. Given Dixie's sizeable advantage in that area, Orem will need to find a way to close that gap.
