Cuba-Rushford hasn't had much luck against Wellsville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rebels will look to defend their home field against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Cuba-Rushford's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Thursday, when they got past Genesee Valley's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Rebels put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 10-1 win. Considering the Rebels have won four matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Emma Bunk made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those runs were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Kate Radomski was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Radomski, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Cuba-Rushford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wellsville earned a 4-1 victory over Olean on Monday.
Like Cuba-Rushford, Wellsville also got a great game from a two-way player: Makenna Dunbar. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Dunbar was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lindsay Stuck, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Ayla Faulkner was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Wellsville's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Cuba-Rushford, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Cuba-Rushford might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Wellsville in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Rebels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
