Recap: La Serna Lancers vs. Culver City Centaurs

The La Serna Lancers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against Culver City on Friday as La Serna made off with a 52-31 win. Considering La Serna has won nine matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

La Serna's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Owen Long, who rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Long hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Adrian Castro also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

La Serna's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB 3.5 times. Castro was especially locked on to Culver City's QB and sacked him twice.

Culver City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sammy Silvia, who threw for 393 yards and four touchdowns. Silvia has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Myles Singleton also helped out as he racked up 148 receiving yards.

The victory (which was La Serna's eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Culver City, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4.

La Serna is on the road again on Friday and play against Corona del Mar at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. Corona del Mar will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Culver City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
