Basketball Recap: Rockdale County Bulldogs vs. Jonesboro Cardinals

Make it nine blowout wins for the Rockdale County Bulldogs this season. They blew past Jonesboro, posting a 67-28 win at home. Given Rockdale County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Cardinals are ranked 217th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Rockdale County to victory were Tre?Miyah Berry and McKenzie Moore. Berry scored 16 points, while Moore scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moore has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanai Hazlewood-white, who scored eight points.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christian Wright, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Wright is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Daezja Thrower, who scored nine points along with two steals.

The victory makes it two in a row for Rockdale County and bumps their season record up to 13-7. As for Jonesboro, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Rockdale County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Alcovy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
