Softball Recap: Cocoa Takes a Loss

Cocoa made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Rockledge, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Raiders since April 12, 2021.

Cocoa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Crane, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That double was Crane's first of the season. Mahlia Session was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Cocoa has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Rockledge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-9.

Cocoa and Rockledge could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 433rd) will meet Merritt Island Christian (ranked 210th) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Rockledge will take on Melbourne Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (344 vs. 123).
