Softball Recap: Lodi Sets Scoring Season-High Against West

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lodi). They put the hurt on the West Wolfpack with a sharp 17-2 win on Friday. With that victory, the Flames brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Abby Schweigerdt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.

In other batting news, Tealla Rivera was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Holly Reich also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Lodi always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lodi is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for West, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lodi is set to square off against their familiar foe Tracy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Flames 2.5, the Bulldogs 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, West will challenge rival St. Mary's at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
