Baseball Game Preview: Apple Valley Sun Devils vs. Serrano Diamondbacks

For the second straight game, Apple Valley will face off against Serrano. The Sun Devils will be playing at home against the Diamondbacks at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Apple Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Apple Valley came out on top against Serrano on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Sun Devils walked away with a 9-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

Benji Avila looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Travis Yoda, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Redona, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Apple Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Apple Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Serrano, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
