Softball Recap: Gregory-Portland's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Gregory-Portland dropped their record down to 19-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 4-1 to the Flour Bluff Hornets. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Flour Bluff, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Flour Bluff's part, Kenzie O'Brien spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Mia Ortega and Addison Mayo did most of the damage at the plate: Ortega went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run, while Mayo went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Ortega has posted since back in February.

Gregory-Portland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-2 victory against Poth on the 22nd. As for Flour Bluff, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-5 win against King on the 17th.
