Dalton is 9-1 against Norwayne since September of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dalton comes in on 16 and Norwayne on nine.
On Tuesday, Dalton earned a 3-1 win over Waynedale.
Dalton walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-13, 23-25, 25-21.
If Smithville wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Norwayne, they should've done a better job of containing Laney Dudte. The Bobcats put the hurt on the Smithies with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday with plenty of help from Dudte, who had 17 digs and one assist. She has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more digs the last three times she's played.
One reason for the win was Norwayne's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-21, 25-20.
Dalton better focus on containing Layla Smithberger and Ava Maibach as the pair were huge in Norwayne's win. Smithberger had 15 assists and four digs, while Maibach had 17 kills, 16 digs, three blocks, and two aces.
Dalton's record is now 17-1. As for Norwayne, their record now sits at 15-3.
Dalton came out on top in a nail-biter against Norwayne when the teams last played back in September, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
