Basketball Recap: Southwest Florida Christian Takes a Loss

Southwest Florida Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to the Oasis Sharks on the road by a 80-63 margin. The King's were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sharks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Southwest Florida Christian lost, don't look at Asa Rogosich. Despite the final result, he went 12 of 24 on his way to 44 points and three steals. That was a full 69.8% of Southwest Florida Christian's points, marking the 18th time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Oasis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brendan Overbaugh, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Overbaugh has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Louzao, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

Southwest Florida Christian's record is now 9-9. As for Oasis, their record now sits at 12-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwest Florida Christian will challenge Evangelical Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st. Southwest Florida Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.1 points per game this season. As for Oasis, they will square off against Canterbury at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Canterbury knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Oasis likes a good challenge.
