League recap: Noxubee County tops Houston to extend winning streak

Noxubee County extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 4 this week by beating Houston, 40-13. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

Noxubee County took down the Hilltoppers 40-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. DeAngelo Ballard threw for 84 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

Louisville's dynamic duo of Wyatt Roberts and Desmond Goss proved tough for Caledonia to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Roberts threw for 313 yards and three touchdowns and Goss had 208 yards receiving. Dalton Hudspeth helped Louisville's passing attack out by catching six balls for 72 yards.

Darrell Robinson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 158 yards on 24 carries as Tyrone Shorter's team defeated the Confederates. Jarvis Taylor also contributed to the rushing game with 49 yards on the ground.

Louisville's Roberts and Goss have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Roberts has thrown for 1946 yards this season, while Goss, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 38 catches for 740 yards. Robinson from the Tigers leads the league in rushing with 1408 yards.

M.C. Miller's team's Roberts is within 54 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Noxubee County.

Houston's Sharone Wright is a mere 42 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Wright has rushed for 958 yards on 162 carries so far this year.

A big matchup in 4A Region 4 this week will be when the Wildcats take on the Tigers. Louisville is in third place, while Noxubee County is in first place.

The Tigers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on William Cook's team. Ballard in the win.
