Recap: Fowler Grizzlies vs. Hoehne Farmers
If the Fowler Grizzlies were riding high off their 67-13 takedown of the Holly Wildcats last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fowler took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hoehne on Friday. Fowler was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hoehne apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Fowler lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Randi Maestas, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Maestas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaslyn Bates, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Hoehne's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Janae Ramos, who scored eight points along with three steals. Ramos hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Alessa Cantoria was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five assists and three steals.
Fowler's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Hoehne, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Walsenburg the next time they take the court. Hoehne will head out to face Walsenburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Fowler will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
