Softball Recap: Sevier County Comes Up Short

Sevier County and Grainger pushed the score to 10-9 the last time they played Grainger, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Smoky Bears fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Smoky Bears have suffered since May 6, 2025.

Sevier County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Koelzer, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Sevier County and nudges their season record down to 7-12. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Grainger, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Sevier County will face off against William Blount at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Grainger, they will challenge Greeneville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
