Volleyball Recap: Whittier Christian Gets the Win

After losing to Mayfair the last time they met, Whittier Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Whittier Christian Heralds walked away with a 3-1 win over the Mayfair Monsoons on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Heralds.

Whittier Christian had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-18.

Dylan Doeve paced Whittier Christian's offense, picking up 13 kills. Doeve got some help from Justice Beller and his 18 assists. Josh Chang controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Whittier Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Mayfair, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Whittier Christian has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Calvary Baptist on the 6th. As for Mayfair, they will be taking part in a tournament against Oxford Academy at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
