Basketball Game Preview: Enka Jets vs. Smoky Mountain Mustangs

The Enka Jets just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Smoky Mountain Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Enka is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 69-66 heartbreaker at the hands of Erwin. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Jets have suffered since February 15th.

Meanwhile, Smoky Mountain's game on Friday was all tied up 43-43 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 87-76 to Pisgah. The Mustangs have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Enka will need focus on slowing down Custer Prenger, one of several Smoky Mountain players who made an impact when they last played. He went 10 for 21 on his way to 25 points and eight rebounds. Prenger's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ace Prenger was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten assists.

Smoky Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Enka, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Everything came up roses for Enka against Smoky Mountain in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, as the team secured an 88-48 win. In that matchup, Enka amassed a halftime lead of 49-24, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
