Softball Game Preview: Falls City Beavers vs. Three Rivers Bulldogs

Falls City hasn't had much luck against Three Rivers recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Beavers will face off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Falls City sitting on three straight wins and Three Rivers on seven.

Last Tuesday, Falls City made easy work of Sabinal and carried off a 26-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Beavers, who have now won 13 games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Three Rivers hadn't done well against Charlotte recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs walked away with a 6-2 win over the Trojans.

Alyson Gomez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amyah Ortiz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Three Rivers pushed their record up to 20-4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Falls City, their record is now 14-7.

Falls City might still be hurting after the 18-5 loss they got from Three Rivers in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Beavers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
