Baseball Recap: Wonderful College Prep Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Wonderful College Prep Academy was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Kings Christian Crusaders 7-6. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wolves as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Julian Tafoya was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Tafoya was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Benjamin Perez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Wonderful College Prep Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kings Christian only posted an OBP of .366.

Wonderful College Prep Academy's record now sits at 5-8. As for Kings Christian, they moved to 4-8-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Wonderful College Prep Academy and Kings Christian will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Wolves see the field they'll take on Orange Cove at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Kings Christian, their break will end when they face Alpaugh at 4:15 p.m. on the 23rd.
