Basketball Recap: Helix Comes Up Short

If Helix was feeling good fresh off their 71-39 takedown of La Jolla last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Highlanders took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Meadows School Mustangs on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 342nd in California, while the Mustangs are ranked 27th in Nevada).

Uzo Nwapa had another great game (as he tends to do), putting up 25 points for The Meadows School. Nwapa's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 24 points. Another player making a difference was Ben Chilton, who posted 13 points.

Helix's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for The Meadows School, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Helix didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 80-57 loss against Chino Hills on the 20th. As for The Meadows School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-54 defeat against Las Vegas on the 20th.
