Recap: Harrison Panthers vs. Sierra Stallions
The Harrison Panthers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. Their rough 52-27 loss to Sierra might stick with them for a while. Harrison was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sierra apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Harrison's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Gulong Craft Jr., who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and also picked up 47 receiving yards. Craft Jr. really tore up the turf during one magnificent 77-yard run. Jazari Spencer was another key contributor, rushing for 117 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Even if they lost, Harrison's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Leading the way was Phillip Pogue and his two sacks.
Ryan Stankiewicz had an outrageously good game for Sierra as he rushed for 142 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 102 yards and a touchdown. Jakell Howard and his 86 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Sierra's win.
Harrison's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Pueblo Central and 8-2 Lewis-Palmer (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.4% over those games). As for Sierra, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-6.
Harrison does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sierra also has no future games currently scheduled.
