Pueblo South hasn't had much luck against Pueblo East recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Colts will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The last three games Pueblo South has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Last Tuesday, Pueblo South didn't have quite enough to beat Pueblo County and fell 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Colts have lost by just one run.
Meanwhile, Pueblo East can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Pueblo Centennial. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
JAVEN SISNEROS made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. SISNEROS was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, ENZO PECORARO was excellent, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayden Rangel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Pueblo East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Pueblo South's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Pueblo East, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pueblo South has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Pueblo East struggles in that department as they've averaged .501. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pueblo South came up short against Pueblo East in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
