Basketball Recap: Oxford Takes a Loss

Oxford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They were beaten by the Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers 73-40. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 670th, while the Pioneers are ranked 146th).

Lampeter-Strasburg was led to victory by Chase Smucker and Hayden Martin. Smucker went 7 of 14 en route to 19 points, while Martin went 6 for 8 on his way to 16 points. Jared Hostetter was another key player, putting up nine points.

Oxford's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Lampeter-Strasburg, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5.

Oxford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-41 defeat against Great Valley on the 28th. As for Lampeter-Strasburg, they will take on Manheim Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lampeter-Strasburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
