Softball Recap: Westminster Academy Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Westminster Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Academy for Innovative Education Aviators by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Myah Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, Gianna Rivero was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Camy Lau was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Westminster Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Academy for Innovative Education, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Westminster Academy will face off against Miami Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Victors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Academy for Innovative Education does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
