Football Recap: CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy] Takes a Loss

CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy] came into this matchup off a tough 26-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Weaver Beavers by a score of 28-26 on Friday. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 20-18 to the Beavers when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Weaver found their leader in freshman Jameire Haughton, who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries. Haughton also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble, making four total tackles, and defending two passes. Kadain Claflin-Coy was another key player, rushing for 90 yards and one TD on only 12 carries.

CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy]'s loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4. As for Weaver, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Coming up, CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy] will challenge Capital Prep/Achievement First at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Trailblazers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Weaver, they will square off against Ellington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Claflin-Coy and Aaron Ladr.
