Baseball Game Preview: Hazen Highlanders vs. Liberty Patriots

Hazen is 1-9 against Liberty since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Highlanders will venture away from home to take on the Patriots at 4:30 p.m.

Hazen fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Bothell on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to the Cougars, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Highlanders just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Liberty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Mercer Island 3-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Patriots as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Colin Brown looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ryan Boehm was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Hazen suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 3-6. As for Liberty, their record now sits at 4-6.
