Basketball Game Preview: Daniel Lions vs. Seneca Bobcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions duke it out with the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Daniel will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Daniel didn't have too much trouble with Blue Ridge as they won 54-36.

Daniel found their leader in sophomore Lila Mann, who went 6-for-9 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Mann a new career-high. Shala Williams was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Seneca beat Travelers Rest 41-37 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.

Seneca's win came from a few key players Daniel will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ja'Nyce Floyd, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 20 points and seven boards. She has become a key player for Seneca: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least 20 points, but 10-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Weston, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Daniel's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points over those games. As for Seneca, the win got them back to even at 12-12.

Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's contest: Daniel has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 34.9% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Seneca, though, as they've only made 21.9% of their threes this season. Given Daniel's sizable advantage in that area, Seneca will need to find a way to close that gap.

Daniel strolled past Seneca in their previous matchup on Thursday by a score of 57-41. Will Daniel repeat their success, or does Seneca have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
