Basketball Recap: Trinity Sumpter Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat St. James

Socastee won against St. James last Tuesday with 44 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Socastee Braves blew past the St. James Sharks 44-21. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 44-12 last Tuesday.

Socastee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trinity Sumpter, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 20 rebounds. Sumpter has become a key player for Socastee: the team is 13-6 when she posts at least ten boards, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Rylee Minehart, who went 5-for-12 en route to 14 points and six steals.

Socastee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Socastee's win bumped their record up to 15-11. As for St. James, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season.
