Football Recap: East Coweta Indians vs. Douglas County Tigers
East Coweta suffered their biggest loss since October 6, 2023 on Friday. They lost 42-17 to the Douglas County Tigers. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-3.
Despite the loss, East Coweta still got an impressive performance from Jayshon Stegall, who rushed for 188 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Stegall really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run.
Even though they lost, East Coweta was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 256 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2023.
Douglas County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was DJ Bourdeaux out in front who threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.4 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 100 yards on only five carries. Rah'Keith Kelly also helped out as he racked up 100 rushing yards.
East Coweta now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Douglas County, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
