Baseball Game Preview: Sandy Creek Comets vs. Hannibal Warriors

The Sandy Creek Comets will head out to take on the Hannibal Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sandy Creek will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Friday, Sandy Creek beat Lyme Central 8-5. That's two games straight that the Comets have won by exactly three runs.

Meanwhile, Hannibal hadn't done well against Tully recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Black Knights.

Earl Hofmann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alex Miller was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one RBI. Eli Chillson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hannibal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Sandy Creek's record now sits at 7-4. As for Hannibal, their record is now 6-4.
