The Cooper Cougars got the win against the Legacy Leopards on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-3. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Maddie Fry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Angelic Gonzalez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
Cooper's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-10. As for Legacy, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11.
Coincidentally, Cooper and Legacy will both be playing Wylie the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Leopards will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
