Baseball Recap: Seton Catholic Victorious

Seton Catholic came out on top against Charles Wright on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Tarriers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since May 7, 2025.

Dashiell Weiss looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, James Lubisich and Teddy Wieczorek did most of the damage at the plate: Lubisich went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Wieczorek went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two hits gave Lubisich a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Hogaboom, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Seton Catholic and bumps their season record up to 9-3. As for Charles Wright, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.

Looking ahead, Seton Catholic is taking a road trip to challenge Kalama at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chinooks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.2 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. Charles Wright has already played their next contest (against Columbia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
