Softball Recap: Windthorst Trojans vs. Muenster Hornets
Windthorst extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 13-11-2. They lost 10-2 to the Muenster Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on Thursday.
Windthorst saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camille Cabrera, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
As for Muenster, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3-2 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by eight runs or more this season.
On Muenster's side, Skyler Reed was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Reed has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2025. Anna Kay Hennigan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
