Fairfield has gone 8-2 against Groesbeck recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out to square off against the Goats at 6:00 p.m. Fairfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Fairfield is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Elkhart just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Elks by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered against the Elks since April 23, 2022.

Haylee Allen spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Fairfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evelyn Fultz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Groesbeck). They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over Mexia on Friday. The Goats haven't had any issues with the Black Cats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Brittyn Bradley was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kealey Trojacek, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Groesbeck always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
Fairfield's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 11-3. As for Groesbeck, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-11.
Everything went Fairfield's way against Groesbeck when the teams last played back in March, as Fairfield made off with a 16-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
