Football Game Preview: St. John the Baptist Cougars vs. St. Peter's Eagles

For the second straight game, St. John the Baptist will face off against St. Peter. The Cougars will square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

St. John the Baptist is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering St. Peter's just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 33-13.

St. Peter's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Vincent Damato and Chase Navarro, who each picked up one interception apiece. Navarro got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

St. Peter's has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.2 points over those games. As for St. John the Baptist, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
