The Conotton Valley Rockets are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against the Malvern Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Conotton Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Conotton Valley had taken East Canton down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Rockets took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets. The loss was the Rockets' first of the season.

Brooks Bower and Garrett Reiter did some serious damage despite the final result: Bower scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Reiter scored a run while going 2-for-3. Reiter also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Zack Putnam was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Malvern came up short against Claymont on Friday, falling 10-3. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Having lost for the first time this season, Conotton Valley fell to 3-1. As for Malvern, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Conotton Valley beat Malvern 5-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
