Baseball Recap: East Liverpool Comes Up Short

East Liverpool had lost seven straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-16 to make it eight. They lost 8-1 to the Beaver Local Beavers. Potters fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Beavers since on Wednesday.

As for Beaver Local, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-13. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024 (when they won 11-2).

For Beaver Local's part, Paxton Grimes made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Grimes has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Logan Roberts was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Liverpool will square off against East Palestine at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Potters' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Beaver Local, they will face off against United at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
