Softball Game Preview: White River Valley Wolverines vs. Eastern Greene Thunderbirds

The White River Valley Wolverines will challenge the Eastern Greene Thunderbirds at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. White River Valley is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for White River Valley's offense. They lost 10-0 to North Knox on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Wolverines have lost by exactly ten runs.

Meanwhile, Eastern Greene can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Cloverdale.

Charley Paurazas and Addison Ramey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Paurazas struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Ramey struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Paurazas went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Ramey got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Deckard, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Bellman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Eastern Greene kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Eastern Greene's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for White River Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
