Softball Recap: Frankfort Takes a Loss

Frankfort extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 39 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-21 in the process. They came up short against the Crawfordsville Athenians, falling 15-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Athenians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-9 on Monday.

Justine Thomas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

As for Crawfordsville, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-20. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season.

On Crawfordsville's side, Molly Pierce was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pierce was also big at the plate, earning two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Christina Susdorf was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten contests. Madison Martin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Frankfort didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-0 loss against Danville on the 24th. As for Crawfordsville, they will challenge Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Athenians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
