Soccer Game Preview: Nogales vs. Desert View

The Nogales Apaches will head out to face off against the Desert View Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Nogales fell victim to Sunnyside and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Apaches can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Blue Devils are ranked second).

Meanwhile, Desert View had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They won by a goal and slipped past the Mountain Lions 2-1.

Desert View is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those seven games. As for Nogales, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Nogales beat Desert View by a goal in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nogales since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
