Baseball Recap: Escalon Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Escalon won the last time they faced Bret Harte and things went their way on Friday too. The Escalon Cougars skirted past the Bret Harte Bullfrogs 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Ian Burk made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, he also posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Burk wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach Wells, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Another was Emerson Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Escalon's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars duke it out with the Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bret Harte, they will face off against Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
