Softball Recap: McDaniel Mountain Lions vs. Franklin Quakers

McDaniel stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on the Franklin Quakers with a sharp 15-4 victory. McDaniel's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Isabel Hale spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Kaylie Schmitz was incredible, firing off three triples, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiffany Jordan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

On Franklin's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Churchill, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Franklin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McDaniel struck out eight times.

McDaniel has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Franklin, they dropped their record down to 13-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.

McDaniel is on the road again on Monday to play Roosevelt at 5:00 p.m. McDaniel's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Roosevelt's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
