Preview: Fleetwood Tigers vs. Antietam Mountaineers
The Fleetwood Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Antietam Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fleetwood will be strutting in after a victory while Antietam will be coming in after a defeat.
Fleetwood stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 64-25 win over Tulpehocken. Given Fleetwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while Tulpehocken is ranked 737th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Antietam came up short against Owen J. Roberts on Saturday and fell 62-50.
Antietam's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of AJ Schiefly, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, and Shawn Raffety who scored 12 points. Schiefly is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Denzel Severino was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Fleetwood's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Antietam, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Everything came up roses for Fleetwood against Antietam in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 68-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fleetwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
