It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Longmeadow ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Pittsfield Generals 3-2. For the Lancers, this counts as revenge for the 17-2 win the Generals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Livia Kelly spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lexi Winkler, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Gabby Palma was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Longmeadow hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Longmeadow pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pittsfield, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Longmeadow will take on Minnechaug Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pittsfield, they will welcome Monson at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something the Generals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
