Softball Recap: Defiance Has No Trouble Against Bath

Defiance barely beat Bath the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 13-1 win on Tuesday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Addison Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Gutierrez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Elley Ward was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Defiance always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

The victory snapped Defiance's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-9 record. As for Bath, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Looking ahead, Defiance will head out on the road to face off against Liberty-Benton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bath does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
