Basketball Recap: St. Maries Lumberjacks vs. Priest River Spartans

After flying high against Grangeville last Friday, St. Maries came back down to earth. The St. Maries Lumberjacks took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Priest River Spartans on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-44 back in January.

Priest River's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Palmer Coleman, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and six assists. Another player making a difference was Carter Cook, who went 5-for-6 on his way to 12 points.

St. Maries' defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Priest River, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

St. Maries does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Priest River, they will take on Timberlake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Coleman and Tyler Engelson.
